Optometrists can assist with urgent or medically necessary eye care. Alberta Health provides partial coverage for the assessment and treatment of:

 

  • Eye and eyelid inflammation
  • Dry eye
  • Eye injuries
  • Removal of foreign objects from the eye
  • Sudden changes in vision
  • Monitoring for conditions such as diabetes-related eye issues, glaucoma, and retinal disease
  • Post-operative care following cataract surgery
